Looking for a floating oasis in the city? Look no further! This entertaining 42 ft by 14 ft Californian barge boasts two bedrooms and one bathroom. As you walk through the front door, you are greeted with calm and a plethora of natural light.


In August 2023, the owner painted the barge interior throughout, including ceiling trim, doors, and new outlet covers. Hardwood floors throughout the barge. The eat-in kitchen includes full-size appliances and enough room for a dining room table to entertain your guests. Walk down the steps into the living room and take in the 15 ft-high wood panel ceiling that reflects the dancing water.


The owner renovated the bathroom in 2022 with a newly tiled shower, marble flooring, and a brand new Raritan Marine Elegance head/toilet. In the bathroom, you will also find the stackable washer and dryer, installed in 2018. The large main bedroom has enough space for a desk, creating a perfect work-from-home space.


The barge has ample closet storage for day-to-day necessities. Kneel down to look through the closet to the crawl space to find additional storage, even for your seasonal decorations. New argon gas-filled, double-pane windows were installed throughout the barge in 2020, worth $13,000. The new windows support the new custom cellular shades the owner installed in 2023. Two new GE PTAC Zoneline AC and heat units were installed in 2020. Heading up the stairs to the rooftop deck, you can stop into the second sleeping area, big enough for a queen-sized bed and a sitting area. There’s even a porthole window. Continue up the stairs to the rooftop deck, which expands 18.5 ft x 14 ft, and take in water views, the Washington Monument, and The Wharf!


The rooftop was recently painted with non-skid (West Marine paint in 2021), and the owner had new railings installed. In August 2023, the barge underwent a completed safety inspection, which is required every two years. Your floating oasis is ready for you. Near the additional storage, you will find the potable water tank and the gray water tank. The gray water tank pump-out happens once a week. The Wharf does not allow short-term rentals and allows long-term rentals only on a case-by-case basis.


Gangplank Marina is the largest liveaboard community on the East Coast. In the shadow of The Wharf you have everything in your backyard, from world-class restaurants to multiple entertainment venues, and soon a new Politics and Prose bookstore. Entertainment and shopping are certainly not lacking, and people-watching is considered a hobby.


Fees and Amenities

Included in the $450,000 is the slip license*

Slip Rental: $30 a ft - it’s a 50ft slip - $1,500 a month

Liveaboard Fee: $300


Included in the fees: Security, Front Desk, Water, Weekly Pump-outs, Laundry, Party Barge, Connection to Electricity, modern dock boxes at each slip, and regularly scheduled events


Because of the liveaboard rights you get services throughout the year! Unlike most marinas in the country, this one is serviced 365 days a year!


*The slip license is in place to protect boat owners’ investments at Gangplank.


**Every two years you are required to do a safety inspection and provide that to The Wharf to make sure the barge is in compliance with the rules and regulations.
